Scaling Water as Leverage from Chennai to Ganges river and beyond?

City of 1000 tanks

Wednesday 6 Oct from 11.00-12.30 CEST/14.30-17.00 IST

This session focuses on the transformative approach of the Water as Leverage (WAL) program and the experiences gathered so far.

The program is an effort to bridge innovative financing, inclusive design, and government collaboration in the development and implementation of projects that mitigate the impacts and adapt to the effects of climate change. International financial institutions as well as local, regional, and national governments, local communities, NGOs, and private sector firms, are involved, contributing to multidisciplinary teams’ analyses of systemic risks and opportunities in three Asian cities: Chennai (India), Semarang (Indonesia), and Khulna (Bangladesh). The local ambassadors of Water as Leverage will share their experience on how a programme can be successful and transformative in an inclusive, integrated and sustainable way.
